Catching up with Massey Mode.....

October has been nuts! I'm just now getting the time to update. I'm gonna try to catch up here.

The biggest and most stressful thing was that my Dad had bypass surgery on the 12th. The great news is that the surgery was a complete success! The surgeon bypassed 4 arteries in his heart. They took 2 arteries from his arm. One from is chest and one from his thigh to bypass the 4 VERY clogged arteries around his heart. 3-100% blocked and 1 at 95%. Yeah that's right.....It's amazing my Dad was even walking around, much less working full time! So I got "schooled" on this procedure and learned they take other arteries from your body, cut out a section of it and place it almost like a detour route, so that blood can flow around the clogged part. Surgeon said that Dad's heart was very healthy, just bad arteries. I was grateful to be able to go down to be with him and Denise for the day of the pre-op and the day of surgery. Reed took an extra day off work so I could do this. Nonnie helped watched the kiddos the rest of the time, so I could spend this time with Dad and Denise. I'm grateful- very grateful! Dad is home now and is recovering quickly! I cannot wait to see him again, how I wish I lived closer at times.

That was one whole week. The following week Reed had to travel for work! The kids and I got home on a Friday night and took Reedie to the airport the following Monday morning. He flew out to Norfolk, Virgina for the week while the kids and I tried our very best to hold down the fort. Well, the fort was still standing come Thursday morning when he called to tell me he was getting on a plane a whole day early. We picked Reed up last Thursday afternoon....it was the best news I had received all month!

Friday was our Preschool Pumpkin patch day and since Reed was home he was able to join us in warm beverages with cookies and hayrides. My friend Stephanie graciously hosted the day out at her farm. Steph, with the school's help, planned a morning for the kids to have a hayride and treats. Christopher received a small pumpkin and a goodie bag (which he's still loving). He ate 3 cookies and hot chocolate....whew!

Other than all that, Miss Gwennie did turn 11 months old on the 12th (the day of my Dad's surgery.) I should say she's gonna be walking soon- I predict in the next couple months. She'll be standing and completely let go to stand on her own for a few seconds. Sometimes she'll attempt some steps too.
Miss Gwennie is really getting around quickly these days. She here one minute, gone the next! I have to keep on my toes with her because she'll dart straight up the stairs if I don't yet have the gate up for the day.
EVERYTHING is in her mouth too! She loves paper products especially, but also fancys anything she can take a small bite out of! I can't even let her have wooden blocks, as she's part jigsaw and will chew away bits of wood from the block!
I'm teaching her sign language for, "more" and "all done." Gwenn likes to scream when she needs more food. It's such a high pitch scream that she resembles a tea kettle! I think she'll catch on to the sign language- Christopher used it well.
She's a spunky gal for sure! She's also real tough - she conks her head and falls quite a bit, but is quickly rearing to go again! I was just telling Reed tonight that Christopher has really settled into a nice working relationship with Gwennie. I don't really have to break the two of them up like I was-which is a relief! Christopher loves to protect her and play with her. They wrestle together and He especially enjoys it when we hold Gwenn and chase him around screaming and teasing all the way!

Well here are some pictures from our adventures - Enjoy!

Gwennie sat at the window looking longingly at Daddy and Christopher playing outside one evening.....

Man is it to-ugh to get a picture of them both together!
